MBAA Council

The leadership of the MBAA is assured by four elected Executives – President, VP Internal, VP External, and Treasurer. The MBAA Council is made up of the Executives plus a Section Representative and a Social Representative from each of the sections. All major decisions are voted on by the MBAA Council.


Carter Whitehead

Carter is a Toronto native who graduated from Queen’s School of Business in 2010, focusing in finance and marketing. During his last year in university he launched his own clothing business which helped him augment his business education when he segued into the professional world. He has spent the last five years working as an Associate at CIBC Wood Gundy managing the portfolios of high net worth clients while always studying the markets. At Ivey, Carter serves as the MBAA President where he works with the school and student body to build an impactful year for his peers. After graduation, he is planning to pursue a career in the capital markets.

carterJosh Barr
VP Internal

Josh was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He
graduated with a Commerce degree from the Queen’s School of Business in 2010. After graduation, he worked at Nestle in brand management focusing on the Nescafe and Coffee-mate business. After several years, he transitioned to an entrepreneurial venture in South Carolina, where he sold aluminum sheet, plate, and extrusions to the defence, marine, and aerospace industries. At Ivey, Josh serves as the MBAA VP-Internal where he works with the class senators to ensure the student body has a great year at Ivey. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career to management consulting.

carterMariya Maksymova
VP External

Born in Russia and raised in Toronto, Mariya graduated from the University of Toronto in 2010 with a degree in commerce. After graduation, she worked in a client management role in commercial lending and subsequently transitioned to the world of project finance, focusing on infrastructure and renewable energy transactions. At Ivey, Mariya serves as the VP External on the MBAA, will be travelling to India for the LEADER Project, and can be found at pretty much all social events at Ivey. In her spare time, she is an aspiring world traveler, amateur windsurfer and an avid audio book listener (a skill acquired at Ivey).

carterFarid Madhani

Born and raised in Karachi, Farid graduated from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, specializing in Finance. After graduation, he joined the private equity team of Dawood Hercules Group, one of the largest conglomerates in Pakistan, focusing on growth equity and buyout transactions in agribusiness, TMT and utilities industries. Thereafter, he joined one of the early stage portfolio company in Dubai and helped execute its expansion plans in Middle East and North Africa. Farid is a CFA charter holder and after Ivey, he plans to be in PE/VC space in Toronto. Farid serves as Treasurer on the MBAA and is founding president of Ivey Fintech Club.

carterScott Loveland
Section 1 Representative

Born in London, ON, Scott graduated from Western in 2011 with a degree in biochemical engineering. After graduation, he moved to Calgary, where he worked in conventional oil and gas as a process engineer, before shifting to facilities engineering and project management in downstream oil and gas, and then went to a startup engineering consulting company where he consulted in process design. He worked as an engineer for about four years before coming to Ivey. Outside of the classroom, Scott is a section representative on the MBAA, 6 time intramural dodgeball champion, and former #earlsgirl. He also had a brief stint as an actor, has run with the bulls in Pamplona, and sends out a yearly Christmas card. He is still hopeful that the owl who has his admissions offer to Hogwarts is on its way, just late.

Section 2 Representative

Born and raised in Mississauga, Christina graduated from York University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, specializing in Human Resource Management.  Her professional career started with a successful entrepreneurial business venture after graduation.  She then spent five years in a progressive Human Resources career, working at Canada’s largest telecom company and Canada’s largest bank. After Ivey, Christina is planning to return to the financial services industry. When she is not studying, Christina serves as a Section Representative on the MBAA and is part of the Women in Management student club.

carterShahmir Anjum
Section 1 Social

Shahmir graduated from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance. After graduation, he joined the highly coveted International Graduate Leadership Program at Standard Chartered Bank. During his 7 years with the bank, Shahmir worked across Pakistan, Africa and the Middle East in multiple functions including wealth management, internal strategy and business planning, and product management. Prior to joining Ivey, he was based in Dubai and was working as a Senior Manager in the bank’s consumer lending division for the Middle East.  After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in management consulting.

Section 2 Social

Born and raised in Victoria, Riley holds a BA from the University of Victoria majoring in History with a minor in Professional Writing and Publishing. Prior to his time at Ivey, he was involved in sport management for the Subaru Western Triathlon Series and 2015 Canada Winter Games. He is involved at the Ivey School of Business as a Social Representative for his section and as the Vice President External for the Business of Sport and Entertainment Club.  Riley is passionate about spending time with people and building personal and professional relationships. Post-graduation, he is interested in a career in consulting, healthcare or marketing and sales.

AMBA Social Rep

Born in London and raised in beautiful Brantford, Ontario, Alex graduated from the HBA program at the Ivey Business School in 2012. After graduation, he joined TD Commercial Banking and completed a number of analyst roles within the Ontario market, before deciding to return to London for the Ivey MBA program. Upon graduation, Alex will be moving to Toronto where will be working within the consulting space. Alex is the Social Representative for the AMBA class and is involved in the planning and execution of events for the Ivey MBA class.

AMBA Representative

Stephen was born and raised in Toronto. He graduated with an Honors Business Administration degree from the Ivey Business School in 2012. After graduation, he worked at TD Wealth Management in productivity and vendor management, focusing on projects resulting in sustainable expense reduction whilst maintaining current output and customer service levels. At Ivey, Stephen serves as the Section Representative for the Accelerated MBA (AMBA) class, working with the AMBA students to ensure their concerns are discussed and resolved. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in investment banking
